Britecoat is a vinyl acetate ethylene binder that the company says specifically meets the needs of paper manufacturers and printers. The 360-µm high-pressure fitting design from this company allows direct connection of a wide range of 360-µm O.D. tubing, including those made from fused silica, PEEK, stainless steel and electroformed nickel, without the use of liners. Because of the fitting’s small size, and fine threads, a leak-free connection that seals at pressures “well in excess” of 20,000 psi can be formed with the manual tool available, says the company. Capable of separating up to 70 ton/h of bulk solids, the new version of this company’s Vibroscreen classifier is said to the be industry’s largest. The high-capacity, two-deck classifer measures 100 in. in diameter, and can be used for classifying bulk chemicals, minerals, plastics, food, pharmaceuticals, solids-laden slurries and more. The classifier contains two horizontal screens located one above the other in a vertical cylindrical housing that is supported on a circular base. The Single-Trip Unloader can cut the bottoms of single-use bulk-solids bags from seam to seam, promoting the complete discharge of the contents without the need for flow-promotion devices that might otherwise be needed to move material through narrow bag spouts. The Single-Trip Unloader relies on the user’s forklift or plant hoist to lower single-use bags onto a four-bladed, bag-piercing knife that opens the bag. After bags are lowered onto the knife, they are ready to discharge faster and with less labor than what is required to connect reusable bags to unloaders. Designed for plastic-bonding applications, 3225-T-SC is a versatile adhesive with an indicator that causes the adhesive to appear blue when in an uncured state, and clear when a full cure has been achieved. The adhesive can rapidly bond, laminate or seal most plastics and aluminum, and may be considered for glass and stainless steel. The company says the 3225-T-SC cures tack-free after exposure to radiation-based curing equipment, such as the company’s ultraviolet-A, light-emitting diode device. — Dymax Corp., Torrington, Conn.
EP21AR is a two-component epoxy that can withstand harsh acidic environments, including prolonged immersion in 96–98% sulfuric acid and 36% hydrochloric acid (over a year). It can used for coating, lining, bonding and sealing applications, and is an excellent electrical insulator. Serviceable between –60 and 275ºF, EP21AR produces high-strength, abrasion-resistant bonds, says the company, and is easy to use, with a 2 to 1 mix ratio by weight. — MasterBond Inc., Hackensack, N.J.
A new monolithic material designed to serve as a furnace lining has been introduced by this company. It offers improved corundum growth resistance, salt resistance and thermal shock resistance. Xylan HB is a new high-performance non-stick coating that achieves good film integrity at film thicknesses of 75 μm with a single cure. Films of thicknesses up to 125 μm are also accessible with longer cure times. The coating is said to be a good alternative to perfluoroalkoxy (PFA) powder. Because it can be applied as a thick film, Xylan HB offers extended wear characteristics. The newly launched Lexan Thermoclear polycarbonate sheets are ultra stiff and are designed for architectural application such as modern stadium roofs. The new material allows improved safety, durability and design freedom for architects, the company says. The material’s low weight reduces transportation costs and enables easier handling and installation. An explosion-proof LED (light-emitting diode) alternative to fluorescent and incandescent trouble lights has been launched by this company. The light is rated for Class 1, Division 1 and Class 2 Division 1 hazardous areas, and features drop-proof durability, low operating temperatures and bright illumination. The hazardous-area lighting system also includes an explosion-proof cord reel to reduce danger and damage for longer cord lengths. EcoDevice is a vapor-phase corrosion inhibitor made almost entirely from bio-based materials, says the company. Each EcoDevice emits a protective vapor for up to 24 months. It is capable of protecting up to 42 L of enclosed space from corrosion. The vapor-phase corrosion inhibitors adsorb onto metal surfaces, forming a barrier to moisture and corrosive gases without adversely affecting the appearance, conductivity, mechanical integrity or optical functionality of the components being protected. Since the product works in the vapor phase, no cleanup of chemicals is needed.
