The PS 10 particulate-matter flow and emissions sensor is engineered for harsh processes with high temperatures and pressures, such as coal gasification, fluidized-bed reactors, kilns and other combustion or incineration processes. Temperature ratings up to 1,600°F and pressure ratings to 1,000 psi are available. There are no active electronics in the sensor housing itself, providing high reliability. The sensor is mounted remotely to electronic control units that apply advanced digita-signal processing to allow for operation even in extreme conditions. Monitoring applications include particulate emissions from fabric filters and particulate flow in process pipes. — FilterSense, Inc., Beverly, Mass.

The Bydrain freeze-protection liquid-expansion trap is designed as a low-cost defense against pipe freezing. This trap is made of stainless-steel material and is a fixed-temperature discharge trap that continuously monitors the temperature in pipes. The trap is firmly closed at 45°F, but as the liquid temperature cools to 36°F, the trap opens, discharging any liquid in the pipes before it can freeze. Where equipment requires draining, Bydrain devices are best installed downstream of equipment or on the equipment itself. The Bydrain can also be installed at the end of pipes, at low points or any area where liquids may become stationary and susceptible to freezing. Typical freeze-protection applications for this trap include: steam traps, coils, tanks, water lines on docks, eyewash stations, safety showers, condensate return lines, pressure-powered pumps, electric pumps and flash tanks. — Spirax Sarco, Inc., Blythewood, S.C.

The Vardex PVC hose is made of clear, chemical-resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and reinforced with spiral steel wire for durability. Capable of handling both pressurized and vacuum environments, potential applications for Vardex hoses include: chemical transfer; air supply; coolant feed; floor-cleaning; material handling; water feeds and discharge; spray systems; and food-and-beverage supply lines. Vardex’s non-toxic PVC construction provides resistance to corrosion and abrasion, but the steel internals impart strength. These hoses resist kinking, crushing and collapse, even in full-vacuum conditions. Offering a bend radius of approximately four times its diameter, these hoses are especially useful in applications where many bends and turns are involved. Vardex hoses are available in nine sizes, with a variety of compatible fittings and clamps. — New Age Industries, Inc., Southampton, Pa.

This company’s 6A02 acrylic flowmeters have interchangeable direct-reading scales that are available for any one of the following: water, argon, oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen and helium. Scales are mounted at the front of the flow body and are positioned and secured by a clear front-plate held in place by four screws. A low-hysteresis, multi-turn needle valve is also included. Dual scales display flowrates in both metric and English units. These flowmeters can operate up to a maximum temperature of 150°F and a maximum pressure of 6.89 bars, with an accuracy of ±3%. — Dakota Instruments, Inc., Orangeburg, N.Y.

This company’s industrial floor scales are rated for 250,000 load cycles under normal loading conditions. The following load capacities are available: 1,000, 2,500, 5,000 and 10,000 lb. These scales come with a 20-ft cable and have two threaded holes in the decks for attaching eyebolts to facilitate installation and cleaning. Also available for use with these scales is the C2 electronic calibration system, allowing for quick calibration without test weights, also decreasing downtime and eliminating test-weight related injuries. The scales’ low-profile design involves a deck height of only 4 in. and durable rubber encapsulated feet provide easy height adjustment. — Hardy Process Solutions, Inc., San Diego, Calif.

This company’s M-444 Grade mechanical primary seal rings are designed especially for use with low-viscosity liquids, including Freon refrigerants, liquid oxygen, liquid carbon dioxide, propane, ethylene and acetone. Constructed from graphite and impregnated with antimony, these rings are self-polishing to maintain lubrication, even when the hydrodynamic film between the two rubbing sealing faces is extremely thin, as is the case with low-viscosity liquids. They also feature a high dynamic stability, enabling them to run in the close proximities required for critical sealing applications. — Metallized Carbon Corp., Ossining, N.Y.

HydroFlow Coolant Recycling Systems (CRS) can recycle any water-miscible fluid to its maximum potential, thus minimizing disposal requirements and reducing usage of the fluid concentrate. These systems are available in four different sizes, the largest of which will meet the recycling requirements of facilities with up to 10,000 gal of total sump capacity. Using a high-speed centrifuge, a Hydroflow CRS promotes the removal of free and mechanically mixed tramp oils, bacteria and particulate matter from metalworking coolants. Larger models include two dirty and two clean tanks for facilities where two different metalworking fluids are in use. — Eriez, Erie, Pa.
